Karate kicks by Oliver Mohlala (jersey 6) and Barcelona's Council Mathebula made the game very interesting for Kgaugelo Mogakane (jersey 15) and Pontsho Mashego (far left), meanwhile Khutso Sekgobela was there to help his team-mate Oliver.
The teams held each other at 3-3 draw, with Fighters at more advantage of taking the game. Barcelona FC striker Jealous Ndlosi sharpened Fighters’ tactics and vigor when he scored the opening goal on the 13th minute of the kick-off. A minute after Ndlosi’s first goal of the match, Moses Mogakane of Fighters FC scored an equalizer giving Daniel Sekgobela a green light for Fighters’ second goal at 28 minutes. The match went to the second half with Fighters leading 2-1 and 8 minutes later at the second half Ronald Machate scored the third goal for Fighters, giving it a 3-1 lead.
The host’ starting line-up was the strongest meanwhile Barcelona’s was weak due to shortage of their players. As the game gained momentum the Barcelona side also rose from the dead when their players turned-up one by one; giving coach Willie Ndlosi options of players. Fighters FC lost pace when their middle-fielder Moses made a way for Dalton Chiloane who instead held the right-back position creating loopholes for Fighters on the right hand side.
Barcelona did not miss the opportunity of using Dalton as their gateway to scoring their second goal ten minutes before the final whistle. They knew how to manipulate Chiloane to set them onside for their equalizer. Although it was a friendly game, the Fighters support-base was disappointed as they already recorded a win against Barcelona.
Those who contributed for the soccer kit are: Pontsho Mashego (organizer), Buti Malele, Kgaugelo "Dommy" Mogakane, Mountain Segodi, Calvin Mashego, Oliver Mohlala, Humphrey Malomane, Ronnie Machate and Elvis Machate. There is lot of optimism from these contributors that the situation on Fighters Football Club will never be the same again.
MST Dealt a Hummer-Blow

It was not a business as usual for Mapulana Soccer Team (MST) when they clashed with Venning Football Club. The energy and passion for a win was very high for MST on Saturday at Brooklyn Soccer Field, but the rivals were better positioned for any attack against them. Although it was still hot on that sunny Saturday when the game kicked-off, the zeal was high on both sides.
There were plenty of goals opportunities for Venning FC’ striker Sipho Kwinda, who scored the opening goal, the second and the closing goal for the game. It was amazing how Kwinda able to score two brilliant goals within the first 15 minutes. MST was oblivious that more goals agaist them were on the way, despite that the pendulum always swung into their territory. Another talented Venning player Fannie Mofomme scored two spectacular goals that finished MST.
MST was rescued by its well talented first timer Joel Chiloane who recorded two goals for Mapulana. Despite that it was a though game for MST, defender Herbert Chiloane and goalkeeper Lebogang Pebane from Newline in Arthurseat saved MST on a number of occasions. Both goalkeepers were able to save penalty shoots, on two separate instances, closing at 5-2 score against MST.
Venning FC coach David Kekana said he was satisfied with the game and his team’s performance, although he was not impressed with the second half because there were some loopholes on their side. Kekana further said that when they came for the game they had only one thing in mind, which was scoring as many goals as possible.
David said: “What we are aiming at is participating in the Pretoria Association of Football (PAF) League next season, so we take every game we play very serious.” The game produced two men of the match; namely Joel of MST and Fannie on the Venning side. The MST coach Aubrey Mashile blamed non-commitment for certain games on players. “Our players choose which games to attend and which ones not to attend, that is impacting badly on our performance. “ We are not consistent, we need to be more serious and not select certain games to attend.” Mashile emphasized.
The next MST’s game still to be confirmed will be against a Sheraton Hotel Team on Sunday the 21st at an unconfirmed venue, meanwhile Venning FC will play against Jacaranda Football Club on Saturday the 20th.
